OUTTA HERE S.O.S. - Mess Hall Division Every institution needs a mess hall, and every mess hall needs someone unqualified running it with total, terrifying confidence. That's Colonel Banu McGuven (Ret.), Head Chef of S.O.S. Island, who did two tours and zero culinary courses and considers both facts irrelevant. "Breakfast is a battlefield," she says, to no one, while flipping something that used to be an egg. "You eat what's issued. You eat it at 0600. You say thank you." Khaki canvas, broken in like it did the tours with her. Structured enough to survive a surprise inspection, soft enough for the long nights when you're on dish duty and questioning your choices.
