Grounded in Flight

There’s something about Cacky Rivers’ bird photography, something that stops you in your tracks, makes you look longer, gets you involved. It’s something you’ve never seen before. For Cacky, knowledge is power, especially when it comes to conserving bird species and habitats native to South Carolina. This is the spirit at the core of her photographs, collected now in her first book of photography, Grounded in Flight, in print November 2021. Grounded in Flight features exclusive photos of the more than three dozen shorebirds, raptors, songbirds, ducks, and other species native to the Lowcountry. This hardback book is bound in hunter green leather with gold leaf edge and gold leaf line art cover designed by Lese Corrigan. It will also include hand drawn maps by Travis Folk on the inside front and back covers.
