Griffith's Gnat

Griffith's Gnat — The Tiny Fly That Outsmarts Big Fish Small, subtle, and oddly persuasive — the Griffith's Gnat is the dry fly that whispers “snack” to trout and screams “confidence” to anglers. If you fish smaller patterns and want a go-to midge imitation that actually works, this is your ticket to more rises and fewer awkward explanations to your fishing buddies. Who it’s for: anglers who respect finesse, weekend warriors chasing clear-water hookups, and anyone who believes Life, Adventure-Ready gear should do more with less. AXG Life approves — this is the pocket-sized weapon for clever presentations. Key Features & Design Pattern: Classic Griffith's Gnat dry fly — proven and endlessly effective for imitating midges and tiny adult insects. Sizes: Available in #12 through #22 — from conspicuous to microscopic, pick the size the fish expect. Use: Designed for dry-fly presentations on stillwater, streams, and high-pressure fisheries where subtlety wins. Performance & Benefits This fly turns stuck weekends into hero stories by matching the critters trout are actually eating. The Griffith's Gnat rides the surface like it belongs there, offering a natural silhouette and take profile that fools picky fish. Fish it solo for spooky trout or as part of a micro-rig to cover an entire hatch window. Practical perks: Versatile across conditions — works when midges are on the menu and when nothing else seems to work. Small sizes mean subtle presentations that coax refusals into committed takes. Pairs perfectly with other nymphs and emergers for realistic multi-fly tactics. Consider this your understated ace in the box — lightweight in your pack, heavy on results. Toss a few Griffith's Gnats into your fly wallet and watch the water tell the truth. Add to cart and start collecting better stories (and more trout) — one tiny fly at a time.
