GREEN TARA PHOTO

Green Tara is the active and energetic aspect of compassion. She is the national goddess of Tibet. Revered as the miraculous savioress who rescues all beings from suffering, she is propitiated in order to overcome obstacles. Green Tara is honored as the Mother of the Buddhas of all three times - the Bodhisattva who represents the miraculous activity of all the Buddhas of the past, present, and future. She is usually shown in a posture of ease and readiness for action. Her left leg is folded in the contemplative position and her right leg is outstretched, ready to step down from her lotus throne to offer comfort and protection. Her left hand is in the protection mudra; her right hand makes the wish-granting offering gesture.
