Green Light (Dark Type) Medaka

The Green Light Dark Type (Black & White) Medaka (Japanese name: 緑光黒白メダカ, house name: 緑光黒白式 / Ryokkou Kokubyaku-shiki) is a striking variety within the broader Green Light (緑光 / Ryokkou) lineage, known for its vivid and clearly defined external light (体外光 / Taigaikou) expression. Considered an upgraded form of Kuro Ryokkou (くろりょっこう), it offers enhanced clarity and contrast in its shimmering shine. The original medaka was sourced from Wakaba Medaka and later bred by SNR. It also carries the nickname “Light Saber Medaka,” personally given to highlight its luminous quality when viewed from above. This variety was first brought to the US in spring 2024, with sales beginning in the summer of the same year. Today, the medaka offered are US bred by SNR USA, ensuring healthy, well-acclimated stock for American hobbyists.
