GREEN DREAM HERBAL TEA A calming, caffeine-free green herbal blend crafted to soothe the mind, ease digestion, and support restful relaxation. BOTANICAL IDENTIFICATION Type: Proprietary herbal tea blend (caffeine-free) Common Names: Green Dream Tea, Green Dream Herbal Blend Primary Botanicals: Spearmint (Mentha spicata), Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis), Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) Green Dream Herbal Tea is a carefully balanced blend of green-hued herbs selected for their complementary flavors and synergistic calming properties. The blend features cooling mints, bright citrus notes from lemongrass and lemon balm, and the gentle floral sweetness of chamomile. Each component contributes its own spectrum of beneficial compounds while harmonizing into a smooth, refreshing cup. All botanicals in this blend are widely cultivated across temperate and subtropical regions worldwide, ensuring a sustainable and readily available supply of high-quality plant material. CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL USE The herbs in this blend each carry centuries of traditional use across multiple healing systems. Spearmint and peppermint have been cornerstones of Western herbalism and folk medicine for digestive complaints since at least ancient Greece and Rome, where they were served after meals and used to scent bathwater. In traditional Arabian medicine, spearmint tea remains one of the most widely consumed daily beverages, valued for its cooling, digestive, and mood-lifting qualities. Lemon balm, known as the "elixir of life" by Paracelsus in the 16th century, has been used in European monastery gardens for over a thousand years to calm nervous tension and promote sleep. Chamomile, perhaps the most beloved herbal tea ingredient worldwide, was sacred to the ancient Egyptians and has been a staple of German, English, and Eastern European folk medicine for soothing anxiety, upset stomachs, and restlessness in both children and adults. Lemongrass is deeply rooted in Southeast Asian, Indian, and Brazilian traditional medicine, where it is used as a fever reducer, digestive aid, and calming tea. Together, these herbs represent a global tradition of plant-based relaxation and digestive care, united in a single cup. KEY BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS & BENEFITS Compound/Class Source Herb Human Benefit Role in Plant Rosmarinic acid Lemon balm, Spearmint, Peppermint Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, calming to the nervous system Defense against pathogens and UV stress Apigenin Chamomile Binds GABA receptors to promote relaxation and sleep UV protection pigment Citral (geranial + neral) Lemongrass, Lemon balm Antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, digestive support Insect deterrent and antimicrobial defense Menthol & carvone Peppermint, Spearmint Antispasmodic, cooling sensation, relieves digestive discomfort Herbivore deterrent Bisabolol Chamomile Anti-inflammatory, skin-soothing, mild sedative support Antimicrobial defense compound The strength of this blend lies in the convergence of multiple relaxation pathways. Rosmarinic acid from three different herbs provides a robust anti-inflammatory and antioxidant foundation, while apigenin from chamomile directly engages calming neurotransmitter receptors. The volatile oils contribute both immediate sensory relief through aroma and flavor, as well as measurable antispasmodic effects in the digestive tract. HOW IT WORKS IN THE BODY Green Dream Herbal Tea works through multiple complementary mechanisms that address both the nervous system and the digestive system simultaneously. Nervous System and Relaxation: Apigenin from chamomile crosses the blood-brain barrier and binds to benzodiazepine receptors on GABA-A channels, producing a mild sedative and anxiolytic effect without drowsiness at normal tea doses. Rosmarinic acid, contributed by lemon balm, spearmint, and peppermint, inhibits GABA transaminase, allowing the calming neurotransmitter GABA to remain active longer. Lemon balm has also been shown to modulate muscarinic and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which may contribute to its mood-brightening effects. Digestive Support: Menthol and carvone from the mint family herbs relax smooth muscle in the gastrointestinal tract, easing bloating, cramping, and gas. Citral from lemongrass stimulates bile flow and supports healthy digestion of fats. Chamomile's bisabolol and chamazulene reduce inflammation in the gut lining, making this blend particularly helpful after meals or during periods of digestive sensitivity. Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Support: The combined polyphenol content of this blend provides broad-spectrum free radical scavenging. Rosmarinic acid in particular has demonstrated the ability to inhibit complement activation and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine production, offering systemic anti-inflammatory benefits with regular use. DOSE GUIDELINES Preparation Type Typical Dose Purpose Hot tea infusion 1-2 tablespoons per 8 oz, steeped 5-7 minutes Daily relaxation, digestive support Strong infusion 2-3 tablespoons per 8 oz, steeped 10-15 minutes covered Evening wind-down, stronger calming effect Iced herbal tea 3 tablespoons per 16 oz, steeped and chilled Refreshing daytime relaxation This blend is well-suited for daily use as a caffeine-free alternative to green tea. It can be enjoyed 2-3 times per day. For sleep support, brew a strong cup 30-60 minutes before bedtime. Covering the cup while steeping helps retain the volatile oils that contribute to both flavor and therapeutic effect. PREPARATION AND USES For the best cup, bring fresh water to a rolling boil, then let it cool for about 30 seconds to roughly 200-205 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour over the loose herbs in a teapot or infuser and cover while steeping for 5-7 minutes. Covering is important as it prevents the aromatic volatile compounds from escaping with the steam. Strain and enjoy as-is, or add a touch of raw honey or a squeeze of fresh lemon to complement the blend's natural citrus character. Beyond simple tea, this blend can be used to make herbal ice cubes for adding to water throughout the day, brewed into a concentrated base for herbal lemonade, or added to a warm bath for an aromatic soak. The spent herbs can even be applied as a gentle facial compress. For culinary use, a strong infusion makes an excellent base for light sorbets, panna cotta, or flavoring homemade honey. OPTIMAL CONTEXT FOR USE This herbal blend is especially well-suited for individuals experiencing: Everyday stress and tension, particularly those seeking a caffeine-free way to unwind Mild digestive discomfort, bloating, or gas after meals Difficulty transitioning from a busy day to restful evening relaxation Sensitivity to caffeine who still want a flavorful, health-supporting daily tea ritual Seasonal immune challenges, where the combined antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties offer gentle support For enhanced relaxation, consider pairing this tea with calming practices such as deep breathing, journaling, or gentle stretching. It also combines well with other calming herbs like valerian root or passionflower for those who need deeper sleep support. SUSTAINABILITY AND ETHICAL HARVESTING All herbs in the Green Dream blend are commercially cultivated species with no conservation concerns. Spearmint, peppermint, chamomile, lemon balm, and lemongrass are among the most widely farmed herbs globally, grown on every inhabited continent. Their cultivation supports agricultural communities and does not place pressure on wild populations. Sugar Creek Trading Company sources its botanicals with attention to quality and responsible production. By choosing cultivated herbs from established supply chains, this blend supports sustainable agriculture while delivering consistent potency and purity in every batch. SAFETY AND CAUTIONS Green Dream Herbal Tea is generally regarded as very safe for most adults and is suitable for daily consumption.
