Great Callings Book

"Great Callings" is Wiest's most focused book — written specifically for people who carry a sense of creative purpose they haven't yet fully answered. Where "The Mountain Is You" confronts self-sabotage in life broadly, and "The Pivot Year" offers daily language for becoming, "Great Callings" speaks directly to the person who knows they are meant to build, write, create, or lead something — and is still finding reasons to wait. Wiest names the barriers precisely: fear of being seen, resistance disguised as preparation, the need for external validation before beginning, distraction as avoidance, and the inherited belief that suffering or struggle must precede worthwhile work. Then she reframes each one — not as evidence that you aren't ready, but as an invitation to go deeper into your clarity and resilience. Drawing on some of the greatest artists and thinkers in history, she makes the case that your calling is not waiting for you to become worthy of it. It has simply been waiting for you to stop preparing and start living it.
