Grateful Dead - In the Dark

In the Dark (1987) proved the Dead could still surprise everyone. Released on Arista Records and produced by Jerry Garcia and John Cutler, it turned years of live chemistry into their most polished studio sound. “Touch of Grey” became an unlikely hit, but the whole record—“Hell in a Bucket,” “West L.A. Fadeaway,” “Throwing Stones”—glows with veteran confidence. It’s the sound of a legendary band finding a second wind and taking a victory lap.
