The Barolos of Fratelli Alessandria have been held in high esteem ever since the 19th century, when King Carlo Alberto bestowed upon them two gold medals for advances in wine-making and international trade. Gramolere is the most generous and accessible of their single-vineyard bottlings, produced in the cru of the same name in Monforte d'Alba. Exciting, yet lithe with mouthwatering tension, the wine offers beautiful black fruit and lush floral perfume, and subtle spice draped over an elegant but seductive structure of tart acid and round, silky tannins.
