Electronic Speedometer Kit (MPH) [Vanagon]

Notice: This product requires a constant GPS signal to function properly. If you live in a remote area, you may experience poor or non-existent GPS signals resulting in the intermittent operation of this instrument. If you experience GPS signal issues, adding our Axle Mounted Speed Sensor Kit will ensure the unit works properly. Replace your tired and broken original cable-driven speedometer with a modern all-electronic speedometer! Our GoWesty Electronic Speedometer is a drop-in replacement and uses the same mounting as the original unit. We styled the instrument face to closely match the original late-style speedometer. Modern technology with that original look. This GPS speedometer has no moving parts, so it will work like new for years to come with no maintenance.  Even better yet, this speedometer relies on GPS, and not wheel rotation, which means your speed will be accurate no matter what size tires you decide to run!  Please Note: This unit can take up to 30 seconds to report accurate speed as the GPS connects to the satellites. Also, when the odometer is set to kilometers, use the small numbers for KM/H readings. Kit includes: • GPS speedometer - MPH (KPH) face • LCD digital odometer display - Miles or Kilometers • GPS antenna and wiring harness • GPS Sensor Unit - Updated Version • Complete step-by-step installation instructions - including steps to set the odometer Important model application notes:  • Direct replacement for all 1980-85 speedometer types with the original blue printed circuit foil, or fitted with our Replacement Kit for Printed Circuit Foil. • Direct replacement for all 1986-91 speedometer types ONLY when fitted with our Replacement Kit for Printed Circuit Foil.* *On late model vans, this electronic speedometer interferes with the mounting of the original dynamic oil pressure circuit, originally located in the speedometer housing assembly. Our Replacement Kit for Printed Circuit Foil (part number GVW-255-919-059) relocates the oil pressure circuit and is necessary for fitment on these vehicles.  Cruise Control Compatibility: The GPS-driven Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal that drives the GoWesty electronic speedometer is NOT suitable for original Volkswagen or aftermarket cruise control. If your van has a cruise control system that was being driven by a VSS mounted on the original VW speedometer, it needs to be replaced by our axle-mounted VSS system (part number GW-CV-VSS) to replace the speedometer-mounted VSS. Odometer ODOMETER TAMPERING IS A SERIOUS CRIME, AND GOWESTY DOES NOT ADVOCATE ALTERING THE DISPLAYED MILEAGE OF YOUR VEHICLE FOR ANY REASON. Setting Your Odometer Mileage: You can adjust the displayed odometer mileage on your new electronic speedometer. This must be done only in accordance with local laws. We strongly recommend that you keep your old, mechanical speedometer as proof of mileage, and record the mileage at which you install your new electronic speedometer. Before setting the odometer reading on your electronic speedometer, you must consult local laws that govern speedometer replacements and follow them accordingly. Use the following instructions only as they apply to your jurisdiction. GoWesty is not able to provide legal advice for any specific jurisdiction.
