Gotcha Crab

When targeting permit, bonefish, and shallow-water redfish, a realistic crab isn't enough—it has to land softly, ride naturally, and stay in the strike zone. The Gotcha Crab was designed by Casey Smith of FlySmith Flies around the innovative FINATICS X-Crab 3D Body System and is balanced with tungsten putty on the underside. This unique weighting system gives the fly a natural sink rate while helping it land quietly and ride hook point up—exactly what you want when presenting to pressured fish on shallow flats. Built on a premium #4 saltwater hook, the Gotcha Crab combines the lifelike profile of the FINATICS X-Crab 3D Body with durable synthetic materials, realistic claws, and flexible legs that continue to move even when the fly is resting on the bottom. The FINATICS X-Crab 3D Body creates a realistic shell profile while helping protect the hook point and maintaining the fly's natural orientation on the retrieve. Combined with the strategically placed tungsten putty, the fly sinks naturally without the harsh splash associated with heavy dumbbell eyes, making it an excellent choice for spooky fish in skinny water. Whether you're stalking permit across white sand, targeting cruising bonefish on tropical flats, or casting to tailing redfish along oyster shorelines, the Gotcha Crab provides the realistic appearance, subtle movement, and quiet presentation needed to convert follows into eats. Hand tied by Casey Smith of FlySmith Flies, the Gotcha Crab showcases the versatility of the FINATICS X-Crab 3D Body System while delivering the premium quality expected from a signature-tier pattern.
