Gorgonian Medium

Gorgonian Coral (Sea Fan Coral) Gorgonian Corals are among the most elegant and unique additions to a reef aquarium. Known for their intricate branching structures and graceful movement in the current, these beautiful corals bring a natural reef appearance that few other corals can match. Available in a variety of colors including purple, yellow, orange, red, and tan, Gorgonians add height, texture, and dynamic motion to reef aquascapes. Found throughout tropical reefs around the world, Gorgonians grow in branching, fan-like patterns that create a stunning visual display as their polyps sway with water movement. Many species are photosynthetic and thrive under moderate lighting, while others are non-photosynthetic and require more specialized feeding. Their unique growth form makes them ideal for creating depth and a natural reef structure within the aquarium. Gorgonians appreciate moderate to strong water flow, which helps keep their tissues clean and allows their polyps to fully extend. In well-maintained reef systems, they can become impressive centerpiece specimens that add movement and dimension to the aquarium. Their natural appearance makes them especially popular among reef hobbyists seeking a more authentic reef environment.
