Gorgan Mask

Gorgan Mask is painted on a 14” x 12”, 36 cm x 30 cm, ½” MDF panel using mixed paint media. Gorgan Mask has a high gloss resin finish and was made in 2021. Gorgan Mask is from a group of paintings on black panels that explore self leveling binders and pigments. You can see where this painting began in the horizontal oval centered low on the panel. Pigment was floated on the surface of the oval and the panel was tipped forward printing the green antenna then tipped back into the oval where the remaining pigment grouped and reticulated. Then the whole mass was flushed out the bottom. At this point I quit tipping and grew the cyclops heart shape that morphed on its own for a bit. Its finish is high gloss resin.
