This original Family Dog postcard captures the essence of San Francisco's psychedelic revolution through Rick Griffin's masterful design for the Goldrush II concerts at the Avalon Ballroom. The striking composition features a mysterious Victorian gentleman emerging from a cauldron, surrounded by Griffin's signature organic forms and bold typography announcing Quicksilver Messenger Service, John Hammond, and Charles Lloyd. Produced by Family Dog Productions in the spring of 1967, this postcard was mailed to announce one of the legendary concerts that defined the Summer of Love era. The piece showcases the innovative visual language that Griffin and his contemporaries developed, transforming concert promotion into collectible art. The bold orange-red background and flowing letterforms exemplify the psychedelic aesthetic at its most confident. This example retains its original mailed condition, having been sent to Cyril Jordan, the founder and guitarist of the Flamin' Groovies, adding a remarkable layer of San Francisco music history provenance. A significant piece for collectors of psychedelic art, rock memorabilia, or the visual culture of the counterculture movement. Size: 7.0" x 5.0" Artist: Rick Griffin Condition: Very Good, Age-appropriate wear, fading and toning. Please use the photo zoom feature to get a better understanding of overall condition.
