Gold Stripe Ceramic Dish

This gold striped dish is elegant + versatile. Use it to store butter, serve olives, nuts + crackers or to hold rings + small things up on the dresser. It is hand-built with a refined, white clay body + finished with low fire glaze + gold luster stripe. Sold individually. Read about the artist + her work here. Due to the handmade nature, each piece is slightly different + therefore, unique. Length: 12" Width: 2" Height: 2" Clay + glazes are food-safe, lead-free + non-toxic. The gold luster, while not food-safe, is only used on the outside of this dish + therefore, the inside of this piece is food-safe. Not dishwasher safe; should be hand washed with a gentle soap + wiped down gently with a soft cloth. Because it is a low fire ceramic piece, the surface is slightly porous + must be cared for delicately. Maidment Creative Handmade in Seattle, WA I discovered ceramics while pursuing a degree in sculpture. I quickly realized the scope of clay is vast + unconventional. My own journey defines that versatility. Post university, while traveling in Europe, I was introduced to large-scale mosaics. I stayed to apprentice with an Irish mosaic artist for four years, working closely with her + a team of artists. With the absence of wet clay, the process was akin to drawing, with tile; line + color were primary considerations. Segueing into my most recent work, hand-built vessels, line + color play dual importance with form. My forever appreciation of formal abstraction is surprisingly satisfied by the complex relationships that come together on the surfaces + profiles of these pieces.
