Because it is a low fire ceramic piece, the surface is slightly porous + must be cared for delicately. I stayed to apprentice with an Irish mosaic artist for four years, working closely with her + a team of artists. With the absence of wet clay, the process was akin to drawing, with tile; line + color were primary considerations.
