Glowing Dream Coneflower (Echinacea 'Glowing Dream')Glowing Dream Coneflower brings fresh summer color to the garden with large watermelon-pink blooms that brighten sunny borders without feeling harsh or overpowering. Its compact, upright habit makes it easy to fit into perennial beds, pollinator plantings, and smaller garden spaces where dependable color matters. This variety offers the classic durability of echinacea while delivering a softer, more luminous flower tone that blends beautifully with a wide range of companion plants. It is a reliable choice for adding long-lasting bloom, wildlife value, and strong seasonal presence to sunny landscapes. Distinctive FeaturesThis coneflower produces fragrant, daisy-like flowers in clear watermelon pink with prominent orange-brown central cones, creating a bright and inviting display through the heart of summer. The blooms are held above dark green foliage on sturdy, upright stems that keep the plant looking neat and well-structured in the garden. It typically matures about 12 to 24 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide, making it a useful option for smaller spaces and front to middle border placements. Flowering generally begins in early summer and continues through much of the season, especially when spent blooms are removed. Growing Conditions Sun: Plant in full sun for best flowering, strongest stems, and the most compact habit, though it can tolerate light part shade. Soil: Grow in average, well-drained soil and avoid planting sites that remain wet or drain poorly. Water: Water regularly during establishment, then provide dry to medium moisture, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 9. Habit: This variety has a compact, upright, clump-forming habit with sturdy stems and a tidy outline. Bloom Season: Expect flowers from June into August, with additional bloom possible when deadheaded. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use its glowing watermelon-pink flowers as a focal point in sunny borders where the color can brighten surrounding plant combinations. Borders: Place it near the front or middle of perennial beds where its compact size and strong bloom show can be appreciated up close. Pollinator Gardens: Add it to butterfly and pollinator plantings to support bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects through summer. Naturalistic Plantings: Blend it into prairie-style and meadow-inspired gardens where its upright habit and open flowers look natural and inviting. Cut Flowers: Harvest blooms for fresh arrangements and leave some seed heads later for added seasonal texture and bird interest. Low Maintenance Care Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during the first growing season, then water mainly during extended dry periods once established. Deadheading: Remove faded flowers to encourage continued bloom and keep the planting looking tidy through the season. Feeding: Apply compost or only light fertilizer in spring, since overly rich soil can reduce sturdy, compact growth. Cleanup: Cut stems back in late fall or late winter, or leave seed heads standing briefly for winter texture and bird interest. Drainage: Make sure the planting area drains well, especially through winter, to support long-term vigor. Why Choose Glowing Dream Coneflower?
