Each piece is coiled and pinched using few tools, yielding dynamic silhouettes with an opaque matte glaze that is soft to the touch. Fingerprints remain in the surface, celebrating the handmade. Hicks is a ceramic artist based in Helena, Montana. Her work is inspired by iconic forms throughout ceramic history and the still lifes of Giorgio Morandi. She holds an MFA from Alfred University and has exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Kohler Art Center, and the Bellevue Art Museum.
