It has been used across Asia for thousands of years in countries such as China, Japan, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Korea, Vietnam and more. In American or European cookery, many of us were first introduced to ginger powder in cakes, pumpkin pie and other holiday recipes. Its use in both classic and modern baking, in our opinion, make it a kitchen staple, just like salt, pepper, or ground cinnamon.    So, how do you use powdered ginger? Well, you use it just like you use any other ground spice. Add a teaspoon, tablespoon, or whatever your recipe calls for. Some people use it to make ginger tea by steeping with water and straining through a coffee strainer. Others may use it to make ginger salves, scrubs and a host of other products. How to use ginger powder and how much to use will really depend on what you plan on using it for.  What makes Sri Lankan Ginger better than other gingers It is quite interesting what makes Sri Lankan ginger better than Chinese ginger or Rangoon ginger. As they say, size matters and when it comes to Sri Lankan ginger, the small rhizomes of the ginger plant play a direct role in the overall quality. Sri Lankan ginger is primarily found in the wet lands surrounding several areas of Sri Lanka such as Colombo, Kegalle, Gampaha and other areas. The rhizomes are smaller with white fibrous flesh and have a strong flavor and aroma. These unique characteristics make the Sri Lankan variety of ginger more suitable for ginger beer, gingerbread, toffee and other confectionary items containing ginger.     Facts about our whole ground ginger power Country of origin: proudly grown in the fertile soils of Sri Lanka Botanical name: zingiber officinale Ingredients : ground ginger root Variety: Sri Lankan Ginger Storage:  For best results always store herbs and spices tightly sealed in an airtight container in dry cupboard or pantry Uses: baked goods, teas, salves, compress, spices rubs and mixes, candies, confectionary
