Agastache ‘Blue Fortune’, commonly known as Giant Hyssop, is a non-native hybrid perennial resulting from a cross between Agastache foeniculum and Agastache rugosa. It is widely cultivated for its long-lasting blue flower spikes, upright growth habit, and strong attraction to pollinators. Giant Hyssop typically grows 24 to 36 inches tall with a spread of 18 to 24 inches, forming a clump of upright stems. The foliage is aromatic, gray-green, and lance-shaped. From mid-summer through early fall, dense spikes of small, tubular lavender-blue flowers are produced, creating a vertical accent in the garden. Agastache ‘Blue Fortune’ grows best in full sun and prefers well-drained soils. It is tolerant of heat and drought once established but does not perform well in poorly drained soils, particularly in winter. Maintenance is low, with cutting back in late fall or early spring to encourage fresh growth.
