Ghost Chile Powder

Ghost chiles, according to the Scoville Heat Chart, are one of the hottest chili pepper varieties in the world. Also known as Bhut Jolokia, they originate from the northeastern region of India. Ghost Chiles are going to bring crazy heat to your cooking! Ghost chiles are extremely spicy, measuring over 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) on the Scoville scale. They are several times hotter than jalapeños and even hotter than habanero peppers. Despite their intense heat, ghost chiles also offer a fruity and slightly sweet flavor profile. However, the heat is so intense that it often overwhelms other flavors in dishes. Due to their extreme spiciness, ghost chiles are used sparingly in cooking. A small amount of ghost chile goes a long and very, very spicy way. It's important to handle ghost chile powder with caution, as their capsaicin content can cause skin irritation and burns. Take care to avoid contact with the eyes and other sensitive areas. Ghost chiles are not commonly found in everyday cooking due to their extreme heat, but they are sought after by chili enthusiasts and adventurous cooks looking to add a fiery kick to their dishes. Try this Chile powder (just a dash, now) in a pot of chili or your favorite enchilada sauce. Ghost wings anyone?
