Getting Ready to Read, eBook

**THIS IS A DOWNLOADABLE PRODUCT!** 40 Independent Phonemic Awareness Centers for Emergent Readers Getting Ready to Read directly addresses the phonological needs of preschool students, emergent readers, English-language learners, and other students who have limited exposure to oral language. This resource includes 40 independent center activities that will help students learn how to analyze and apply the five levels of phonemic awareness (rhythm and rhyme, parts of a word, sequence of sounds, separation of sounds, and manipulation of sounds) in isolation before applying the levels to written language. Each easy-to-prepare activity is presented pictorially for children to follow and in written form for parents when you send the activity home for extra practice. Jo Fitzpatrick, the author of Getting Ready to Read, is also the author of the best-selling resource Phonemic Awareness (CTP 2332). Jo has written this new resource in response to teachers who wanted more phonemic awareness practice for students with limited exposure to oral language. Getting Ready to Read directly addresses the phonological needs of preschool students, emergent readers, and English-language learners. The center activities in this book help children learn how to analyze and apply the five levels of phonemic awareness (rhythm and rhyme, parts of a word, sequence of sounds, separation of sounds, and manipulation of sounds) in isolation before applying them to written language. Each easy-to-prepare activity is presented pictorially for children to follow and in print for a parent to read when the activity is sent home for extra practice. As children practice and master the phonological skills presented in this book, they will be ready to read! "I have found the Getting Ready to Read book very useful in early intervention and in helping with remediation of skills. These are great activites to give to volunteers for added practice of phonemic awareness skills." – Jennifer O., PreK Special Education, Colorado
