Imperial German WW1 Railway Officer Sword with Sheath

This seldom-seen World War I German railway officer's sword comes complete with its original scabbard and retains remarkable condition throughout. Typically distinguished by their conservative styling and practical function, these swords were issued to officers managing Germany's critical military rail logistics, a cornerstone of troop transport and materiel supply during the Great War. The sword is single-edged, featuring a single fuller running down the center of the blade. The hilt is constructed with finely cast brass hardware, including a twisted brass grip, a globe-shaped pommel, and a clamshell chape above the crossguard, all reflecting the understated sophistication of Imperial German design. Both the sword and scabbard are adorned with the classic “Winged Wheel” railway insignia, a symbol of speed and industrial power, flanked by stylized rail tracks. The scabbard is correct and original to the piece and mirrors the same symbolic motifs. All brass fittings, suspension rings, and hanger bracket remain intact and in excellent condition. The black leather body of the scabbard is still solid, exhibiting no major damage and maintaining a proud overall presentation. Railway officers during WWI held strategic importance within the Imperial German Army, and their sidearms served both ceremonial and practical roles. Though not meant for front-line combat, these swords signified rank, discipline, and the vital support network behind Germany’s war machine. A highly collectible edged weapon, rarely encountered with this level of completeness and historical integrity.   Why Buy From Us One of Austin, Texas' top collectible stores with a 5-star reputation Fast, secure shipping and careful packaging every time True collector knowledge—every item is handpicked with care Item Location: TBD CC#WIG0136
