Georgia Granite Slab Well Cover Table

Fabulous slab of granite cut into a well cover. It measures 48 inches by 48 inches and is only 5-6 1/2″ depending on where you measure it. It came out of an old homestead in Redan, Georgia, in DeKalb County. The center round hole is 15 inches round, all hand hewn. Read Genesis 37: 12-36, it’s the story of Joseph’s brothers putting him in the well before they sold him into slavery. Imagine Joseph’s despair looking up through that hole.  Since Stone Mountain is the world’s largest granite outcropping, probably cut there, and Redan is only 7 miles away. Now made as a table for an outdoor patio, the base is made of 2″ square 1/4″ thick steel tubing, complete with feet, and sits 30-31 1/2 inches high. Also have the original pail, the windless and crank, and the pulley. Have a buddy who says this belongs on the coast at a Oyster House. Maybe the table is raised to bar height. Maybe your customers sit around it, shuck oysters, drink beer and push the shells into the center hole which holds a big garbage can. Certainly unique! Clean up easy with water. An idea might be to place a planter in the hole on a stand so that your table was covered in live flowers.  Or Candelabra, your imagination is the key.  Weight approximately 1300 lbs.   How to Reserve Inventory Items Our shopping cart system is for reserving inventory items only.
