Frequently Asked Questions – Gemini Restore-A-Deck Cleaner & Brightener Kit Do I need to use both the cleaner and brightener? Yes. The two-step system is designed to work together. The cleaner removes dirt, mold, and gray wood fibers, while the brightener neutralizes the cleaner’s high pH and enhances wood appearance. Skipping the brightener can lead to poor stain performance and uneven results. How much does one kit cover? Each Gemini Restore-A-Deck Kit contains concentrated powder that treats up to 1,000 square feet of wood surface. Coverage may vary depending on wood condition and porosity. Can I use this kit on wood that’s already been stained? Yes, if you’re prepping for a recoat and the previous stain is lightly worn or faded. However, if the old stain is peeling or heavily built up, you’ll need a stain stripper instead of the cleaner to remove it fully. How long should I wait to stain after using the kit? Allow the wood to dry for 24–48 hours after rinsing off the brightener, depending on temperature and humidity. The wood should feel dry to the touch before applying stain. Is the Restore-A-Deck Kit safe for plants and grass? Yes. Both the cleaner and brightener are biodegradable and eco-friendly. We still recommend rinsing nearby vegetation with water before and after use as a precaution. What tools do I need to apply the cleaner and brightener? Use a pump sprayer or watering can to apply each solution. A scrub brush or pressure washer (on low pressure) can help agitate the surface during cleaning. Can I use this on vertical wood surfaces like fences or siding? Absolutely. The kit is effective on all exterior wood, including decks, fences, pergolas, wood siding, and outdoor furniture.
