Gaura ‘Sparkle White’

This All-America Selections winner produces an abundant, non-stop succession of pure white, star-shaped flowers on slender, arching stems that sway and flutter in the gentlest breeze, creating an ethereal, cloud-like effect that adds lightness and romance to any planting. From late spring through the first hard frost, 'Sparkle White' simply never stops blooming — one of the longest and most reliable flowering seasons of any sun-loving perennial available. Bred for a more compact, well-branched habit than older gaura varieties, 'Sparkle White' is tidier and more garden-friendly without sacrificing a single ounce of its free-spirited, wildflower charm. It is an extraordinarily versatile plant — equally stunning cascading from a container, weaving through a mixed border, softening the edges of a xeriscape planting, or massed in drifts where its collective movement creates a breathtaking living tapestry of white. Exceptionally heat and drought tolerant once established, it thrives in the tough, sunny conditions that challenge less resilient perennials and keeps performing beautifully long after summer has overstayed its welcome.   Highlights: Pure white star-shaped blooms on airy, arching stems with an irresistible dancing quality in the breeze All-America Selections winner — proven outstanding performance across North America Extraordinarily long bloom season from late spring through hard frost — virtually non-stop color Compact, well-branched habit — a tidier improvement over older gaura varieties Exceptional heat and drought tolerance once established Thrives in containers, mixed borders, xeriscapes, and cottage garden plantings Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and native bees Deer and rabbit resistant Pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses, salvias, echinacea, and rudbeckia Low maintenance and virtually pest and disease free   Growing Info: Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–9 Mature Size: 18–24 in. tall, 18–24 in. wide Sun: Full sun Soil: Well-drained to dry; tolerates poor, sandy, and rocky soils — avoid wet conditions Water: Low to moderate; highly drought tolerant once established Tip: Shear back lightly in midsummer if plants become floppy to encourage a fresh flush of compact new growth and blooms
