Garmin Catalyst 2 Race Track Driving Performance Optimizer

Garmin Catalyst 2 Race Track Driving Performance Optimizer SHIPPING NOW Designed with a bright 3-inch display and a built-in camera, Garmin Catalyst 2 easily mounts on the windshield and brings on-track coaching features to the cockpit, including Garmin's unique True Optimal Lap, which shows drivers their best achievable time with a composite video of lines they drove. It also features real-time audio cues and post-session comparison of performance data to help drivers see where they can gain time. DISCOVER YOUR FULL TRACK DRIVING POTENTIAL Designed as a compact, windscreen-mounted unit, the Garmin Catalyst 2 features a 3-inch display and an integrated camera capable of recording 1440p high-definition video. The idea is simple enough: capture what the car is doing on track, analyze it automatically, and feed that information back to the driver in a format that is easy to act on to improve lap times. Garmin Catalyst 2 includes unique motorsports coaching features that can help drivers improve on the track. After a track session, drivers can open the Garmin Catalyst app on a compatible smartphone or tablet to review detailed performance analysis, driver comparison data and more. True Optimal Lap: Patented Garmin technology splices together a driver's best achievable time into a single video based on lines driven if all best lines had been driven on the same lap. On-track coaching: Receive real-time coaching with audio cues for speed, braking and more – heard through connected earbuds or the car stereo. Automatic data interpretation: See the top three opportunities for improvement after every session, allowing drivers to spend less time analyzing previous laps and more time on the track. Leaderboards: Drivers can see how they stack up against other drivers with best lap times sortable by session, day, year, car make or model. Video with data overlays: View graphic overlays on 1440p high-definition videos, which include track map, speed, delta time, G-G traction circle diagrams and more2. Detailed performance data: See animated graphs2, comprehensive driving information and friend comparisons. Enhanced data accuracy: Refined True Track Positioning™ uses built-in accelerometers, gyroscopes, image processing and 25 Hz multi-GNSS positioning for recording the most precise racing line on the track. Vault storage: With an active Vault plan, optimal and best lap videos are automatically saved and accessible through the Garmin Catalyst app. This makes it easy for users to view and share videos and allows them to manually store laps or sessions for as long as their plan is active. Overview At the center of the system is Garmin’s True Optimal Lap technology. This patented feature pieces together a driver’s best theoretical lap by combining the quickest segments and lines they have driven across multiple laps into a single composite video. Rather than showing what was achieved, it presents what was possible if every best sector had been strung together in one go. Positioning accuracy has been upgraded through Garmin’s True Track Positioning system, which uses built-in accelerometers, gyroscopes, image processing and 25 Hz multi-GNSS data to record racing lines with greater precision. Display & Audio Catalyst uses a 3" touch screen with vivid TFT colors. The LCD is a touchscreen, able to control functions without the need for a remote control, app, or a laptop. Coaching or playback audio is available via 3.5mm headphone jack or Bluetooth(TM) to your headset or car stereo.  Coaching On-track coaching is delivered via real-time audio prompts, which can be played through connected earbuds or the car’s stereo. Drivers receive cues on speed, braking and other key inputs while circulating, something Gamin claims will reduce the amount of post-session guesswork.  In addition to circuit use, the Catalyst 2 now includes a drag racing timer, recording 0–60mph, 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile times for those heading to the strip. Analysis & Review After each session, the device automatically identifies what Garmin describes as the top three areas for improvement. If drivers want to drill down further into the data, more detailed analysis is available through the companion app. Here, users can review performance data, compare laps and access animated graphs. Video footage can be viewed with data overlays including track maps, speed traces, delta times and G-force traction circle diagrams. Leaderboards allow drivers to compare best lap times by session, day, year, or even by car make and model. An optional Vault subscription automatically stores optimal and best lap videos in the cloud via the Garmin Catalyst app, making them accessible for later review - probably when you are boasting to your buddies about how much faster you are!
