Garmin Alpha 200i GPS Dog Tracking and Training Handheld with inReach

The Garmin Alpha 200i is the Alpha 200 with one significant addition: built-in inReach satellite communication. Two-way text messaging, location sharing, and interactive SOS with Garmin’s 24/7 Response center, all without cell service, wherever your hunt takes you. For the hunter who regularly works remote country: big timber, backcountry drainages, areas where cell signal dies before you’ve made it five miles from the trailhead. The 200i’s inReach is the difference between being truly unreachable and being able to check in, call for help, or let people know you’re okay. You’re already carrying the handheld. The 200i makes it do one more critical thing. On tracking and training, the 200i delivers the full Alpha 200 feature set: 3.5-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen, 20-hour battery life, 2.5-second update rate, up to 20 active dogs at 9 miles, 18 levels of stimulation plus tone and vibration, preloaded TopoActive maps, and direct-to-device BirdsEye Satellite Imagery. Alpha 200i vs. Alpha 300i: Both add inReach to their respective handhelds. The Alpha 300i brings a larger 4-inch display, 55-hour battery (vs. 20 hours on the 200i), and AMOLED Display. If you hunt long days and want maximum battery and the biggest screen, the 300i is worth the step up. If the 200’s 20-hour battery fits your hunting style and you want the smaller, lighter form factor, the 200i is the right call. Alpha 200i vs. Alpha 200 Plus: The Alpha 200 Plus matches the Alpha 300’s 55-hour battery and software speed but without inReach or the AMOLED display. The choice for hunters who want long battery life but hunt country where satellite communication isn’t necessary. Pair with a fēnix 8 or Instinct 3 watch for wrist-based dog tracking via Broadcast Mode. inReach subscription required for satellite messaging (Cost per month dependent on plan).
