Rare 19th-Century Will & Finck Gambler’s Kit with Derringer, Daggers, Cheating Devices, and Accessories

This exceptional 19th-century American Gambler’s Kit includes an astonishing variety of period tools, weapons, and gambling paraphernalia. Housed in a fitted, blue felt-lined wooden case with a brass law shield on the lid, this elaborate set features a four-barrel derringer pistol (SN# 2790) with its original wooden bullet holder (bullets missing), a rare cigar box hammer breaker tool, a Will & Finck stamped boot dagger with sheath, and a long dagger with bone or other material handle in its original leather and metal sheath. Also included are a roulette wheel, a lighter with leather cover, cigar holder, a full tool kit, a gambling felt tablecloth, a Will & Finck-stamped metal playing card case with a card deck, four playing card-themed wooden boxes with markers, dice, poker chips, and two rare “wizard sleeve” cheating devices for concealed card switching. Will & Finck were among the most respected cutlers and gambling supply manufacturers in the American West during the latter half of the 19th century, catering to both legitimate professionals and notorious gamblers alike. Their work was synonymous with craftsmanship and discretion, especially during an era when frontier saloons and gambling dens flourished in California. Items like these not only evoke the thrilling danger and flair of the Wild West but also serve as rare cultural relics of America’s gambling past, particularly with the inclusion of cheating tools and personal weapons designed for both bluff and defense. This fascinating kit represents 1800s gambling culture, combining weaponry, tools, and paraphernalia in a single, display-ready case. It’s a conversation piece, a collector’s dream, and a rare opportunity to acquire a unified ensemble of Western Americana rarely seen outside private collections or historical institutions. Our kits are sold as-is, never parted out, so please view all images and inquire for more information before bidding.  Provenance: Acquired from a private West Coast collection with ties to historical gambling artifacts.
