Galactic Standard - Espresso Blend

Galactic Standard from Brandywine Coffee Roasters is an espresso blend that delivers exactly what its name promises: a universally excellent foundation for your daily coffee ritual. This blend marries washed Colombia Santa Barbara Estate with natural-processed Ethiopia Bombe, creating a profile that works beautifully as straight espresso or transforms milk drinks into something extraordinary. Tasting NotesExpect bright mixed berry flavors—raspberry and blackberry—dancing across your palate with a lively citrus lift. The body is remarkably syrupy and velvety, with chocolate notes emerging as the cup cools. The natural Ethiopian coffee brings fruit-forward brightness, while the Colombian component provides structure and sweetness. Acidity is present but balanced, never sharp. The finish is clean with lingering berry sweetness that makes you reach for another sip. Brew MethodsEspresso: This is where Galactic Standard truly shines. Brandywine recommends 19g in, 38-40g out over 25-29 seconds. The blend is forgiving across a range of ratios, making it ideal for dialing in or experimenting. It cuts through milk beautifully in cappuccinos and lattes, maintaining its berry-chocolate character without becoming muted. Pour Over (Chemex): Use 25g coffee to 400ml water at 202°F with a medium grind (14 on Baratza Encore/Virtuoso). Bloom with 50ml for one minute, pour to 100ml, then pulse 20-40ml at a time until reaching 300ml. Target a 4-minute total brew time. The Chemex method highlights the blend's fruit clarity while maintaining body. Other Methods: While optimized for espresso, this blend also performs well in French press and Aeropress, though you'll want to embrace slightly shorter brew times to preserve the bright berry notes.
