GABA Plus

With all the stimulation our brains get on a daily basis - including noise, bright colors, job stress, personal problems, family worries, bad news, etc. - it's no wonder we sometimes feel over stimulated and overwhelmed. At such times, it's almost impossible to relax or concentrate. Certain neurotransmitters (natural chemicals) in the brain help squelch excess brain activity, promoting a state of greater relaxation and peace. The principal neurotransmitter of this type, GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), is the key ingredient in Nature's Sunshine's new GABA Plus. GABA Plus contains GABA, glutamine, passion flower herb, taurine and spirulina. Glutamine (an amino acid) is converted into glutamic acid (a precursor of GABA) in the brain. Glutamic acid serves as fuel for the brain and calms the central nervous system. Passion Flower contains many phytonutrients that appear to exhibit a sedative effect on the nervous system. This herbs has long been used to help balance this system and relieve stress. Taurine (an amino acid) has a protective effect on the brain, aids in the development of nerve tissue and helps stabilize cellular membranes. Spirulina algae is rich in a variety of nutrients, including protein, antioxidant carotenoids, trace minerals and vitamin B12. It builds the blood, increases brain function, boosts immunity and supports healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Benefits GABA affects the central nervous system by reducing the number of neurons firing in the brain, thus calming brain activity. This can benefit people with overstimulated nervous systems who find it difficult to relax or who have trouble focusing on one task. Other ingredients in GABA Plus add to its effectiveness in relaxing the nervous system.
