G&L Pickup Cover - SB-1 - Black

Genuine G&L Black pickup cover for the later-style SB-1 Magnetic Field Design (MFD) split-coil bass pickup. G&L adopted the MFD split-coil configuration for the SB-1 in 1985, and the same basic split-coil pickup design is also used in the neck position of later P/J-style SB-2 basses. Ideal for replacing a damaged original or restoring the factory appearance of an SB-series bass equipped with this style of MFD split-coil pickup. Important: G&L MFD pickups are wax potted and the cover may adhere firmly to the pickup assembly. Removing an original cover without first softening the wax can damage the fine coil wire. Gently warming the pickup and cover with a hair dryer will make the wax more pliable and help ease removal. Warming the new cover slightly before installation is also recommended. It is not necessary to re-pot the pickup after installing the replacement cover. We strongly recommend professional removal and replacement of any MFD pickup cover.
