Fyne Audio SuperTrax Supertweeter (pair)

Fyne Audio SuperTrax Supertweeter (pair) An omnidirectional supertweeter. Manufactured, tested, and hand-finished in Fyne’s Glasgow factory, Fyne Audio's SuperTrax supertweeter eliminates the narrowly focused beam directionality of traditional supertweeters with 360-degree omnidirectional dispersion. Moving beyond conventional forward-firing super tweeter design, the patented SuperTrax uses a groundbreaking thin-ply carbon diaphragm (TPCD) ultra-HF driver firing vertically onto a precision-engineered tractrix profile diffuser cone. The cone transforms the beam-like HF output of the driver into a radial 360 degree dispersion, delivering super high-frequency sound in a way which preserves the harmonics and phase response of the point source Tastefully crafted to echo the real wood veneers, metalwork and sumptuous grain of retro-styled loudspeakers, SuperTrax has been developed with Fyne’s Vintage and Vintage Classic series in mind as perfect partners. Placed on the top surface of each loudspeaker, SuperTrax positioning instructions are supplied with each SuperTrax to attain perfect time-coherent acoustic integration with Vintage model IsoFlare drivers. Supertrax is also suitable for integration with any other speaker, from Fyne Audio or other brands, that has a flat top surface on which to position this unique device. Super High-Fidelity The result is a truly immersive experience with a tangible reality to the sound that better connects with the soul and passion of the replayed music. This new technology better aligns the performance of the loudspeaker to the instruments it is required to reproduce, ensuring SuperTrax delivers sound closer than ever to how the artist intended. Eliminating the break-up modes of metal dome tweeters, the TPCD driver technology with dome structure unique to Fyne Audio, pushes the boundaries of material science in acoustic transducers, enabling extremely extended and highly linear upper-frequency response with extremely low distortion. The 25mm (1”) driver in SuperTrax has a typical in-room response (+/-6dB) from 16kHz – 60kHz and is suitable to pair with speakers up to 98dB/W sensitivity with a +/-3dB control for balancing with the main speaker. The 360 degrees dispersion cone with tractrix profile draws from Fyne’s expertise with its patented BassTrax technology, the 360 degree LF speaker porting system found in all premium Fyne loudspeakers. The SuperTrax design concept achieved a patent in January 2024, adding to Fyne’s growing list of patented technologies. SuperTrax transcends the traditional audio experience, extending the frequency range of your loudspeakers several octaves above the usual limit of human hearing. This extension enriches your music with increased tonal accuracy, a more pronounced transient response, and a breathing sense of air and space, enhancing even the lowest frequencies. Fyne Audio's technical director Dr Paul Mills says, “Musical instruments emit energy well above 50 kHz , once thought to be beyond our perception. Yet, studies by researchers such as Oohashi and Lenhardt have shown that these ultrasonic tones do influence our auditory experience, even if they’re not directly audible. The SuperTrax captures this spectrum and radiates the HF energy through 360 degrees, ensuring you’re not just listening to music, you are feeling it, perceiving it, and sensing it as well.” Specifications Recommended Max Amplifier Power: 400 W RMS Sensitivity: Suitable for loudspeakers up to 98 dB Nominal Impedance: 8 Ohm Frequency Response (-6 dB): 16 kHz -60 kHz Driver: 25 mm thin-ply carbon diaphragm (TPCD) with neodymium magnet system Crossover: 3rd order high pass 16 kHz, Cryogenically treated Adjustments: +/- 3 dB from nominal setting Dimensions (HWD): 3.4" x 5.5" x 10.1” (86 x 140 x 257 mm)
