Maximum Cutting Specifications Chart Material Max Wire Diameter Notes Soft Yellow Gold 0.7 mm Optimal for achieving full-flush cuts on soft gold. Exceeding this may compromise flushness or tool life. Sterling Silver 0.6 mm Due to its hardness, a smaller diameter is recommended for the best full-flush result. Copper 0.8 mm Softer than silver, allowing for a slightly larger diameter while maintaining a flush cut. Brass 0.6 mm Similar to sterling silver in cutting difficulty for a full-flush finish. Aluminum 0.9 mm Very soft, allowing for a relatively larger diameter while achieving a very clean cut. Important Considerations for Cutters: Delicate Blades: Full-flush cutters have very fine blade edges to achieve the clean cut. They are more delicate than standard or semi-flush cutters. Avoid Hard Materials: NEVER use full-flush cutters on memory wire, steel wire, hardened wire, or any material harder than the stated maximums, as this will permanently damage the blades. Hardness Varies: The actual maximum cutting capacity is highly dependent on the temper (hardness) of the wire. Dead soft wire will be easier to cut than half-hard wire of the same diameter. Wire Form: The chart assumes round wire. Cutting square or rectangular wire with the same cross-sectional area may be more difficult or exceed the tool's capacity. Blade Care: Always cut perpendicular to the wire. Twisting or bending the wire while cutting can damage the blades. Safety First: Always wear appropriate eye protection when cutting wire to prevent injury from flying debris.
