In terms of security, the Fort Knox Out-Swing 8248 Vault Door has a 5/8" reinforced fire door constructed with a Quadrafold door frame, with deep recessed door, 3/8" steel plate, one layer of fireboard and 10 gauge reinforcement. Standard wall thicknesses are 6"-12". On the door of the Fort Knox 8248 Out Swing Vault Door lies an UL Approved Mechanical dial lock with optional electronic lock upgrade available. Both mechanical dial and electronic lock is protected by a drill stop hard plate with recessed multi-bearings. After the correct combination is entered on the 8248 vault door and you begin to turn the beautiful five-spoke handle and pull handle, you'll start feeling the twenty-four 1.5" chrome-plated locking bolts retract. Once fully inside, you can close the vault door completely as Fort Knox intuitively added an interior release door handle that will allow exiting even if the door is closed. Hinge style on out-swing doors can be external hinge or concealed (for an additional cost). External hinge swings 180° while the concealed hinge swing radius is 110°. Right vs left swing is based on which side the hinges are on. Standing outside the room facing the front of the door your hinge will be on the right or the left.
