This fashion coffee table book explores Louis Vuitton’s blend of innovation and tradition, its iconic creations, the Asnières workshop and the contributions of its Artistic Directors. It begins with the House’s founding by Louis Vuitton, who, at just fourteen years of age, left his village in Eastern France, to go to Paris, where the luggage maker became the icon for the spirit of travel and French chic. From Louis to Vuitton retraces this extraordinary adventure with endless potential. Throughout its pages, it highlights Louis Vuitton stores as architectural gems that encompass all of the House’s crafts—men’s and women’s fashion, leather goods, accessories, timepieces, jewelry, and fragrances. The book also sheds light on each of the House’s Artistic Directors who contribute to or have contributed to various aspects of its history. In addition to Louis Vuitton’s exceptional innovative spirit and know-how, this book also celebrates modes of transport—by land, air or sea—as symbols of the House’s spirit of travel. From Louis to Vuitton evokes historical places, the reinterpretation of the House’s codes and Louis Vuitton’s commitment to the climate as part of its “Committed Journey,” while highlighting its close ties to sport, notably the House’s partnerships with the America’s Cup and F1, as well as exhibitions that are presented worldwide. The book’s slipcase is purposefully designed to be slimmer than the book. This unexpected dimensional ratio is a structural design element intended to convey the energy of the title, its enthusiasm to meet the reader.
