WCP Friction Brake (1/2" Hex)

The WCP Friction Brake 1/2 inch Hex is designed to help robotics teams maintain precise position control in arms, elevators, and other rotating subsystems. By adding passive holding force, the friction brake supports your PID controller and can fully hold a mechanism in place without requiring motor power. This friction brake is built for easy mechanical integration and shares common mounting patterns used across many FRC robot designs. It is compatible with both 1.875 inch and 2 inch bolt patterns, matching VersaBlocks and supporting seamless installation into existing drivetrains and mechanisms. The assembly is also compatible with the Rotation SS Gearbox and WCP Bearing Block, making it a flexible solution for a wide range of robotics applications. The kit includes: WCP-0200 Friction Brake (3/8" & 1/2" Hex) WCP-0201 Friction Brake Pad (2" Bolt Pattern, Silicone Rubber, 45A) 45A Silicone Rubber A pneumatic cylinder is required for actuation and is not included. Key Features 1/2 inch hex interface for common FRC shafts Supports PID control by adding passive holding force Can hold mechanisms in place with no motor power Easy mechanical integration into robot designs Compatible with 1.875 inch and 2 inch bolt patterns Same 1.875 inch bolt pattern as VersaBlocks Compatible with Rotation SS Gearbox Compatible with WCP Bearing Block Uses silicone rubber friction pad rated at 45A durometer Pneumatic cylinder not included Product Benefits Reduces motor load and power consumption when holding position Improves stability and control of arms and elevators Helps prevent backdriving under load Integrates easily with common FRC mounting standards Supports reliable operation during power loss or disabled motors Ideal for competitive robotics mechanisms requiring precise holding performance Explore CTRE’s WestCoast Products (WCP) lineup for competitive robotics and industrial automation, offering premium gears, sprockets, shafts, and drivetrain components built for reliable performance.
