Lima Beans- 3 or 5lb Box

Available in 3 lb and 5 lb Boxes · Harvested to Order · Ships Nationwide Fresh Lima Beans are harvested while the beans inside their pods are still young and tender. They have a mild flavor and creamy, buttery texture that is quite different from dried lima beans. They require no soaking and generally cook in 20–30 minutes. Use them for succotash, soups, stews, salads, pasta, and simple vegetable dishes—or freeze them while they are in season for use throughout the year. Choose Your Box Size 3 lb Box — In the Pod A practical quantity for home cooking, side dishes, and individual recipes. 5 lb Box — In the Pod A larger quantity for batch cooking, entertaining, restaurant use, or freezing. Please note: Lima Beans are shipped fresh in their pods. The selected box weight includes the pods, which are not eaten. What Do They Taste Like? Fresh Lima Beans are mild and slightly sweet, with a smooth, creamy texture. They pair well with butter, olive oil, garlic, onions, corn, tomatoes, fresh herbs, and other seasonal vegetables. How to Use Them Succotash with fresh corn and tomatoes Soups and stews Warm or chilled bean salads Vegetable sautés Pasta and grain dishes Simply simmered and dressed with olive oil and herbs How to Prepare Them Remove the beans from their pods and rinse. Add them to gently simmering salted water or broth and cook until tender, generally 20–30 minutes depending on their size and maturity. Fresh Lima Beans do not require soaking. The pods are not edible and should be discarded or composted after shelling. Buy Now and Freeze for Later Fresh Lima Beans freeze well, making the larger box a useful way to stock your freezer while they are in season. Shell the beans, blanch them briefly in boiling water, and transfer them immediately to ice water. Drain thoroughly, pack into freezer-safe containers or bags, and freeze. Frozen Lima Beans can be cooked much like fresh beans and used throughout the year in succotash, soups, stews, pasta, and vegetable dishes. There is no need to thaw them before cooking.
