French At Heart

From the founders of The Cook’s Atelier, the beloved cooking school in Burgundy, French at Heart is a gorgeous celebration of living—and eating—well the French way. Created by mother-daughter duo Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini, this beautifully crafted cookbook invites readers to slow down, savor the everyday, and find joy in gathering around the table. With more than 100 approachable recipes, French at Heart goes beyond cooking to embrace a lifestyle rooted in mindfulness and connection. After moving to Beaune to open their now-renowned school, Taylor and Smith Franchini discovered that appreciating life’s smallest details—like setting the table with fresh flowers or lingering over a simple family meal—transformed the way they lived and cooked. Recipes range from timeless French classics such as Salade Niçoise, French Onion Soup, and Tarte Tatin to modern favorites like Tataki-Style Beef Tenderloin and Duck Confit Tostadas. Each dish reflects the authors’ relaxed, family-focused approach to French cuisine—simple, soulful recipes designed to be shared. Beyond the recipes, the book offers heartfelt guidance on creating memorable cheese and charcuterie boards, curating a French-inspired pantry, starting a kitchen garden, and making the most of your local farmers’ market. French at Heart is more than a cookbook—it’s an invitation to create meaningful, joyful moments at your own table, wherever home may be.
