Fremontodendron 'Pacific Sunset', Flannel Bush

Large, fast-growing flannel bush that boasts a prolific initial bloom of large orange-yellow flowers in spring, then sporadic blooms until sustained frosts. Upright form, vase-shaped in time. The fuzzy leaves of the flannel bush are left undisturbed by deer and other grazers. Evergreen, incredibly drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, pollinator-friendly- what more can we ask?  Best grown in dry, very well-drained soils with full sun. Requires weekly water for its first season, then it is best left alone. Foliage can cause contact dermatitis; take care! This hybrid flannel bush was introduced by the California Botanic Garden (formerly the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden), F. californicum x F. mexicanum Mature size: 15-20 ft T x W Minimum temperature: 0° F Photo credits to Plant Master, used with their generous permission.
