Its grain pattern is predominantly smooth and straight, occasionally punctuated by unique figures such as curly or fiddleback. Walnut offers a spectrum of brown colors, ranging from light brown to deep chocolate-brown color. While typically straight-grained, occasional waves and intricate, swirling figures may appear.  White Oak features a range of brown colors, from beige to warm brown with golden tones. Its grain pattern is generally straight, with occasional ray flecks. The strong grain pattern often forms a unique "cathedral" pattern. Maple is recognized for its light, creamy color, and fine, generally straight grain, occasionally featuring subtle waves. A unique pattern, almost exclusively found in hard maple is birdseye, which are tiny knots in the grain. Over time, the color may subtly warm and deepen.
