With its narrow, upright form and rich, dark green foliage, this tree creates a bold vertical statement that can beautifully anchor any landscape design. Its dense growth habit not only serves as an excellent windbreak but also provides year-round visual interest, making it a prominent feature in any setting. This resilient tree truly shines in dry conditions, demonstrating impressive drought tolerance once established. For homeowners looking for a low-maintenance option that still brings style and structure to their outdoor space, the 'Frank' variety is tough to beat. Its ability to thrive even in less favorable environments means you can maintain a lush landscape with less effort, allowing you to enjoy your yard without the worry of constant upkeep. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Dig a hole that is twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Position the tree in the center of the hole, making sure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly to encourage root establishment. 2. Watering: Once established, the 'Frank' pine is highly drought tolerant. However, it's crucial to provide regular watering in the first season to help develop a strong root system. Water weekly during dry spells and reduce frequency as the tree matures. 3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is required for the 'Frank' tree. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed to maintain a clean appearance. Lightly prune for shape in early spring if desired, but avoid heavy cutting. 4. Fertilizing: Use a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can stress the tree and lead to undesirable growth patterns.
