Mimosa borealis (Fragrant Mimosa)

Fragrant Mimosa is ragged yet dainty and fits perfectly in sunny, open spaces. It is thorny and grows to be quite large, so give it plenty of space, preferably away from traffic areas. It flourishes when surrounded by grasses and flowering perennials. A fragrant mimosa’s blooms are fuzzy balls of sparkling color. And after the flowering is over, Fragrant Mimosa produces seed pods that are quite lovely in their own right. Very drought tolerant once it is established, Fragrant Mimosa requires little help from us.   AT A GLANCE Texas native Yes Water use Low Sun exposure Full sun, part sun Bloom color Pink Bloom time Spring, summer Mature height 3-6 ft Mature spread 4-6 ft Attracts Butterflies, bees Deer resistant Yes Notes Thorny DISTRIBUTION MAPS  USDA MAP BONAP MAP  Present in state  Present in county and native  Native to North America, but adventive & escaped in state           Not present in state  Present and rare, native in county  Previously present, now extinct  Questionable presence (cross-hatched, regardless of color)
