Poetry, chapbook, 32 pages, from Bottlecap Features. This poem tracks physical forms of Grief and other emotional animals around the Appalachian woods I grew up in. Initially instigated by the death of my childhood neighbor and friend, the descriptions of Grief are interrupted by brief memories of him. The poem aims toward mythology and to explore landscapes across the page. The poem uses white space to score the emotional landscape of Grief while Grief and other emotional animals explore the physical landscape of home. jonathan burkhalter is a writer, event coordinator, teacher, and editor. they are passionate about motels, history, natural wine, food that moves us, and the practice of the kitchen table as a gathering place.
