Four Gate Split Stave Rye By Kelvin Batch 27

Tucked away in the heart of whiskey country, Four Gate Whiskey Company has continuously demonstrated an uncanny ability to release masterpieces that push the boundaries of traditional whiskey production. Their Batch 27, known as the Split Stave Rye By Kelvin, is an embodiment of their innovative spirit and an ode to their close collaboration with Kelvin Cooperage. Right from the outset, this rye whiskey catches the eye with its mesmerizing amber hue, a testament to the meticulous aging process it has undergone. The "Split Stave" process, a brainchild of Kelvin Cooperage, involves combining barrels crafted from medium-toasted and lightly-charred staves with those made from heavily-toasted and lightly-charred staves. This distinctive approach lends the whiskey unparalleled complexity. On the nose, Split Stave Rye unfurls an aromatic tapestry of spicy rye grain, coupled with hints of toasted oak and a touch of dark chocolate. As you take a sip, your palate is caressed by the spiciness inherent to rye, complemented by notes of dried fruits, caramel, and a whisper of mint. The finish is long, warming, and profoundly spicy, with the toasted oak resonating in a delightful afterglow. Tasting Profile: Nose: Prominent spicy rye grain, toasted oak undertones, with subtle hints of dark chocolate.
