Foukauld is a photo book by Markus Obendorfer. Published by Fotohof, 2012. Hardcover, 106pg. Color 11.2" x 8.8" 1st edition Edition of 750 "Markus Oberndorfers shots from bunkers of the Nazi regime on the beaches of the Atlantic Wall in the French section around Cap Ferret are eloquent witnesses to the disappearance and of the change and the appropriation of admonishing relics of WW2. The over a period of several years (2005-2010) resulting color photographs are by their minimalism in color and contrast, even a metaphor for the transience of analog photographic material. The bunker itself is unimpressive write to the data drawn from the harsh climate landscape. Today they are mainly surfers and tourists as an observation plateau or as ideal walls for graffiti art. "Foukauld-La disparity," the title of the book as the entire project, of course equally as artistic and than scientific work. It may well be seen as a reference to the great French philosopher Michel Foucault with his reflections on history and memory, Also Oberdorfer holds "the irritation fixed - the irritation that leads to think." Or with Foucault: "heterotopias" refer to the abutment of the Company. Bunkers photographs by Markus Oberndorfer included in the documentation of the disappearance as in the appropriation the message that war 'man-made disasters' are where built by people bunkers do not offer protection." - Inge Marszolek
