Fossil Sand Dollar in Falun Matrix + Stand 2.5" | France

Delicate, rare, and beautifully preserved — this Fossil Sand Dollar in Falun Matrix measures approximately 4.75" wide by 3.75" tall with a 2.5" diameter sand dollar fossil at its center, and arrives display-ready on the included black metal stand. Sourced directly from France, this specimen features a genuine Scutella — an extinct flat sea urchin — still embedded in its original falun matrix, the fossil-rich shell limestone and sandy sedimentary rock characteristic of French fossil deposits. The intricate petal-like pattern on the sand dollar's surface is remarkably preserved, standing in beautiful contrast against the rough, textured matrix that surrounds it — raw and refined all at once. Known in French as oursin fossile scutella sur gangue de faluns, these specimens are a genuine window into ancient marine life and a distinctly European fossil find rarely seen in American collections.
