Force Dynamics 401cr

Feel what you're missing with every other simulator Real driving feel starts with real forces. The Force Dynamics 401cr delivers large, constant g-forces across four axes of motion - including a continuous high-performance yaw axis - so you feel the weight of cornering, the surge of braking, and every rotation exactly as it happens. Professional drivers have assessed it as having superior driving feel to systems costing seven figures.  Get pricing & availability Every Force Dynamics simulator is custom-built to your specific needs. L1 401cr: ~$93,900 L2 401cr: ~$110,500   Key features Continuous-rotation yaw: True unlimited yaw rotation, 1:1 with the simulation. The only compact platform with this capability. 4 independent axes: Roll, pitch, heave, and yaw all servo-driven independently. Return to run: Complete simulator package ready to operate right out of the box Custom build: Fully customisable configuration ForceControl software: Supports 80+ titles including iRacing, Assetto Corsa, rFactor 2, DCS World. ±25° roll & pitch range: Same range as the 301 with the added yaw capability. 2.4g heave acceleration: Commercial specification; 2.0g residential. CE/TUV certified: Commercial entertainment certification.   Why most motion simulators fall short The majority of motion simulators lack the range to portray acceleration and cornering. What you feel is bumping and vibration - not the real forces that tell you how hard you're braking or how close you are to losing grip. Six-axis hexapod platforms compound this by running the yaw axis in the wrong direction 50% of the time, leaving drivers constantly translating the simulator's cues rather than simply driving.   Built differently The 401cr solves both problems. Its continuous yaw axis gives you exactly what you expect, when you expect it, with no false feedback to interpret. Combined with high-impact acceleration, best-in-class frequency response that helps eliminate motion sickness, and a motion range that genuinely simulates forces rather than approximating them, it outperforms conventional 6DOF hexapods in a smaller footprint and at a lower price. It supports an industry-leading and ever-growing list of simulations and games. Professional standard at a fraction of the price The 401cr is used by professional drivers and teams across rally and endurance GT racing. For sim racers, it means understanding tracks and cars at a level a screen alone cannot provide - better consistency, sharper setups, and a closer connection to the real thing. For competitive drivers, it provides legitimate feedback that lets you apply real-world technique directly in the simulator. 6DOF is no longer enough.   Why CR? The “CR” refers to continuous rotation, meaning the platform can continually rotate to match vehicle orientation over multiple laps. To achieve this we located the computers on board the moving part of the machine and supplied power to the machine through slip rings. This has the added advantage of simplifying set up of the machine and making a cleaner overall installation.     ForceControl - software that grows with you The 301 and 401cr ship with ForceControl, Force Dynamics' motion cueing software, which supports dozens of titles across arcade gaming, flight simulation, and professional motorsport training. Drive laser-scanned tracks accurate to the centimeter in iRacing and Assetto Corsa, slide through wet corners in Project Cars, or run a space battle in Eve: Valkyrie - the same hardware adapts to each. Individual presets can be loaded, saved, and adjusted per title, genre, and car, so your motion settings match your preferences rather than a one-size-fits-all default. New titles are added regularly, and every version of ForceControl supports every Force Dynamics simulator ever built - back to serial number 1. Whether you're running your system in one year or ten, you won't be locked out of updates or stranded on outdated software.   Built to Industrial Standards Before Force Dynamics built racing simulators, it built industrial automation equipment for General Motors, General Electric, Nortel, and the US Navy - environments where a failure shuts down entire assembly lines. The same construction techniques and materials that kept Fortune 100 production running are in every simulator the company makes. The result is a platform built to run for years without major maintenance, including in demanding commercial environments. Electric servo systems keep any servicing that is eventually needed clean and straightforward.   Deliver times Delivery times are approximately 10-12 weeks for base models and 12 - 14 weeks for upgraded models, depending on the configuration. Faster delivery can sometimes be accommodated depending on the specifications and inventory availability.   Commercial & Residential options Force Dynamics platforms can be configured for commercial and residential applications.   Certifications CE and TUV certified for commercial entertainment use. Available as Commercial RTR, L1 Residential, or L2 Residential configuration. Why 4DOF? Get pricing & availability Six-axis hexapod platforms dominate the simulator market largely because of 50 years of inertia from the flight simulation industry - not because they represent the best engineering choice for high-performance, compact, affordable driving simulators. When you look at the physics, the tradeoffs are significant. Limited motion range Six-axis platforms operate within a constrained envelope where each axis competes with the others: yaw restricts pitch and vertical travel; vertical travel restricts roll and yaw. The result is that many 6DOF simulators offer less real-world motion range than their axis count implies. Most don't perform load cueing at all - the feature that distinguishes a high-end platform from a seat mover. The 401cr's high center of rotation delivers an effective surge and sway range of +/-8" at the seat, with industry-leading rotation range for consistent motion cues. More range, fewer restrictions, from four axes. Illusion of performance Six-axis platforms carry impressive specifications on paper. What they typically cannot deliver is sustained g-forces - the constant lateral load that tells you how hard you're cornering over the course of a lap, not just at the moment of a bump. The 401cr's design prioritizes this: real, sustained g-forces that hexapod platforms cannot replicate, in a smaller footprint, at a lower price. Size and power A Stewart platform delivering comparable motion performance will typically require around 50% more floor space than the 401cr and consume roughly double the power. Reliability Every additional axis is an additional failure point. A six-axis platform has the same failure footprint as 1.5 four-axis systems - meaning, all else being equal, a 6DOF platform is approximately 50% more likely to experience a fault than the 401cr. 401cr vs SimCraft Apex6 GT The SimCraft Apex6 GT is a non-hexapod six-axis platform at the premium end of the market. Against the 401cr: it offers roughly equal roll range, half the pitch range, yaw limited to +/-20 degrees versus the 401cr's continuous axis, surge of +/-4" versus the 401cr's effective +/-8" at the seat, sway of +/-1" versus the 401cr's +/-8", and heave of +/-1" - one-fifth of the 401cr's commonly used range. It costs fifty thousand dollars more. If you want a one-to-one continuous yaw axis alongside a full 6DOF platform, the price starts at seven figures - and you'll need the building to put it in.   In the box Get pricing & availability Force's residential product line consists of four platforms, two three-axis (301) and two four-axis (401cr). All motion and control components of our residential systems meet or exceed the build and performance standards of the commercial 301 and 401cr. Struts Strut tubes are case-hardened steel guided by 4140 steel rollers that are fitted with sealed needle bearings. The strut tube is driven by an oversized ball screw whose large pitch and consequent slow rotation gives it a very long life. The servo motors are three-phase brushless permanent magnet motors fitted with a spring actuated brake and differential output incremental encoder. The motor drives the screw with a toothed belt. Frame The frame is a weldment fabricated from low-carbon steel and is finished with a textured polyester powder coating. Removable panels are attached with hardened thread forming screws. All aluminum parts are clear anodized or polyester powder coated. Every sim is designed to your specification.
