The surround that connects the dome to its support uses Poron, a shape-memory material. This surround is directly derived from Focal's famous Beryllium tweeter, and reduces distortion by a factor of three between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, the most sensitive zone for the ear. In addition, a waveguide has been developed to perfect spatialization and further improve the inverted dome's very low directionality. In the horizontal plane, the frequency response is within +/- 0.5 dB. This performance guarantees an incredibly stable soundstage.   SLATEFIBER MEMBRANE Dynamic, balanced sound Exclusive to Focal and made in France, the Slatefiber membrane is made from recycled carbon fiber and thermoplastic polymer. In their quest for perfection and as specialists in loudspeaker membranes, our engineers have chosen to use non-woven carbon fibers in this case.es in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity, damping and lightness, the "essentials" of a good loudspeaker. Renowned for its dynamic, rich and balanced sound reproduction, this membrane has proved its worth on numerous products for the home, for professionals in recording studios, and also for listening in the car.         REVIEW & AWARDS FOCAL THEVA NO 3 FLOOR-STANDING SPEAKERS REVIEW - Read More "The Focal Theva No 3 floor-standing speakers are an excellent value. The light wood finish is very attractive and modern-looking. These speakers, in my opinion, would best be used in surround channels as they are a relatively small size which would be inconspicuous in a room that has multi-use, which includes home theater. For the front left and right channels, a larger speaker is recommended."   Why Bigger Is Not Always Better: Focal Vestia N°3 Loudspeaker - Read More "All told, I was blown away by the N°3’s extreme clarity across the entire audioband; the spot-on tonal balance, which made the vocals I listened to sound real; and what I believe is standard-setting bass performance for a speaker of this size and at this price. The N°3 isn’t rated down to 20Hz, but the review pair got close by hitting a rock-solid 30Hz in my room with aplomb—what I heard was deep, tight, and tuneful bass that didn’t overshadow the all-important midband, at any volume level. To my eyes and ears, the spectacular-sounding N°3 is big enough—you’d have to pay considerably more to better its performance substantially. While the N°3 may not be the biggest speaker in the Vestia lineup, it’s the biggest speaker surprise that I’ve experienced in the last few years.
