Focal Stella Utopia Em Evo

STELLA UTOPIA EM EVO 3-way floor-standing speaker The technological twin of Grande Utopia EM Evo, the Stella hi-fi speaker brings together Focal's most remarkable innovations, in a lighter 3-way version. With its 33 cm woofer and multiple technologies, its sound tuning wonderfully reproduces the midrange. It reveals perfect definition throughout the frequency range, with an ideal balance between registers, all enhanced by a unique architecture.                   INNOVATION FOCAL Stella Utopia EM incorporates a 33 cm "W" woofer powered by the Grande Utopia electromagnet motor, which is efficient from low bass to low midrange. The midrange is not to be outdone, thanks to the implementation of Focal's best innovations: TMD surround, NIC magnetic circuit motor, MRR cabinet. The result is a sound of unparalleled quality.         UTOPIA, AN ICON FAR AHEAD OF THE REST   THE BEST COMPONENTS Perfection is born of detail. Each audiophile-quality component has been rigorously selected for listening. Thanks to specific filtering, 243 combinations of settings are possible, from the extreme bass to the extreme treble, for ever greater personalization of sound according to the listening room and the listener's desires.           REFINED FINISHES Stellia Utopia stands out for its contemporary styling and distinctive silhouette. Each loudspeaker is integrated into separate cabinets that form the spectacular backbone of the loudspeaker. Metallic colors inspired by the automotive world and timeless wood finishes complete the look.     TECHNOLOGIES "W" MEMBRANE Perfectly defined midrange and bass By developing and manufacturing its own membranes, Focal pushes the limits of innovation in acoustics. The sandwich "W" membrane of the loudspeakers plays an essential role in sound reproduction. It consists of two sheets of glass placed on either side of a central foam body; a sandwich construction that enables us to master the three key parameters of a good loudspeaker: lightness, rigidity and damping. This flagship membrane of Focal know-how perfectly optimizes the frequency response curve, providing low distortion and total listening transparency. Sound is the ultimate in precision.     TMD SUSPENSION Stabilized surround, eliminates vibrations While our engineers are experts in the development of exclusive diaphragms, they also innovate in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behavior of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.     BÉRYLLIUM TWEETER For exceptional treble Membrane shape and materials are essential for high-fidelity reproduction. For exceptional treble, our engineers have developed the Béryllium inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium. Thanks to its unrivalled rigidity, Beryllium is the material of choice for high-frequency loudspeakers. Developed and patented by Focal, the pure Beryllium inverted dome is capable of covering more than five octaves (1,000 - 40,000 Hz) for perfect perception of micro-details.         WOOFER EM The electromagnetic motor loudspeaker To the delight of audiophiles, Stella Utopia EM incorporates a 33 cm "W" woofer with the same magnet motor as the Grande Utopia EM, effective in both bass and low-midrange. The principle: the permanent magnet is replaced by an electromagnet. As a result, the motor's power can become inexhaustible, or adjustable. Focal engineers used a technology capable of achieving extreme performance: the electromagnet. Its power supply is external and features a signal recognition system. The supply voltage can be adjusted in different steps, allowing you to choose from a whole range of bass sounds, or program a bass sound à la carte.         OPC+ FILTER Personalize the exceptional The notion of fine-tuning the sound, without altering the integrity of the signal, was integrated right from the start of the Utopia line project. The Stella loudspeaker offers a wide variety of settings, in all registers, for a total of 243 possible combinations. OPC+ filtering offers the ability to adapt the loudspeaker's response curve to the room's acoustics, customizing the tonal balance according to the reverberation time linked to the size of the room.room size, the nature of light or matt surfaces, furnishings, or simply individual sound preferences. Extremely sophisticated, this crossover uses only the highest-quality components determined by meticulous comparative listening.     POWER FLOWER More energy and optimized ventilation The performance of a loudspeaker is directly related to the magnetic energy transmitted by the magnet. To develop high-performance woofers, our engineers created the multi-ferrite magnet, or Power Flower™ technology, which brings together several stacked ferrite rings distributed around the central core. This technology combines very high magnetic energy transmission, for tenfold power handling, with optimal cooling of the loudspeaker: the spacing between the blocks allows free circulation of hot air, ensuring unrivalled ventilation of the coil. As it heats up less, it no longer represents a limitation on power, even after prolonged listening at high sound levels. Another advantage is that the coil is decompressed because it is totally open-back to the outside: distortion, linked to mechanical compression phenomena, is considerably reduced. This technology has been an exclusive Focal signature for many years.     GAMMA STRUCTURE An anti-vibration cabinet As the surface area of a loudspeaker cabinet is greater than that of the loudspeaker diaphragms, it can radiate sounds that are distorted by the resonances of the cabinet structure. This alters reproduction and blurs the sound image. To prevent such "interference", it is essential that the cabinet is as inert as possible, that it is not emissive. At Focal, we use MDF (Medium Density Fiber) to achieve this inertia. This stable, heavy structure is anti-vibration. It has been optimized by vibratory mapping of the loudspeaker walls to reinforce or modify the structure wherever a weak point appeared.           NIC TECHNOLOGY Very high sound definition For very high-definition sound, control of the magnetic flux circulating in the loudspeaker is essential. Our acousticians have created a magnetic circuit of incredible stability, guaranteeing perfectly controlled sound: Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) technology. This patented technology resides in a Faraday ring whose dimensions, material and positioning are optimized to make the magnetic flux stable and the sound highly precise.               REVIEW & AWARDS Focal Stella Utopia EM Evo Loudspeaker - Read More "The Stella Utopia EM Evo acquitted itself well during the evaluation period, with impressive transparency, lightning quick transient response, near unlimited dynamic playback capability, excellent lateral soundstaging and imaging, very good image height, and great instrumental separation to complement very tight, controlled, and refined bass response. The Ash Grey finish on the evaluation pair is as beautiful to look at as the sound produced by the speaker. Since the current version Stella’s introduction in 2018, many new upper-high-end speakers have entered the market from several manufacturers. Today, these Stella Utopia EM Evos continue to produce excellent sound that is competitive with all of them. Go listen and hear for yourself how Stella(r) sounding they can be." -  Andre Jennings   The Focal Stella Utopia EM - Read More "Yet putting it all in perspective, and that’s kind of a wacky thing for speakers that cost a lot more than most cars, the Focal Stella EMs deliver amazing performance. Take your breath away performance."   2023 Golden Ear: Focal Stella Utopia EM Evo Loudspeaker - Read More "Once properly set up and adjusted for the listening environment, the Stella Utopia EM Evo is an excellent sounding speaker. There is an uncanny amount of transparency reminiscent of electrostatic loudspeakers. Unlike many ‘stats, the Stella has frequency extremes to balance the sound and bring things into a more holistically complete perspective. The ability to keep up with the lightning-fast rhythm and pacing of music while maintaining bass performance that is tight, controlled, and realistic sounding is a highlight of the speaker’s performance. The soundscape and imaging are excellent in terms of instrument placement laterally across the stage, with very good image height for such a large speaker. The speaker acquits itself well with additional characteristics of seemingly near-unlimited dynamic playback capability (with the right amplification) and great instrumental separation. With so much adjustability and tunable performance, the Stella Utopia EM Evo well deserves this Golden Ear Award."       SPECIFICATIONS  Sound - Acoustics Product type Bass-reflex 3-way column Membrane 3rd generation 'W' composite sandwich technology, laser cut-out Woofer Electro-Magnetic 13" (33cm) "W" woofer Medium 2x Power Flower 6.5" (16.5cm) "W" midrange drivers with TMD suspension and magnet Tweeter IAL2 pure Beryllium inverted dome 1" (27mm) tweeter Response at - 6dB (Low frequency point) 18 Hz Frequency response (+/- 3dB) 22 Hz - 40 kHz Minimum impedance 2.8 Ω Nominal Impedance 8 Ω Recommened amplifier power 50 - 1 000 W Sensivity 94 dB Design Depth 830 mm / 32.69 in Height 1.558 mm / 61.33 in Width 553 mm / 21.75 in Weight 170 kg / 374 lb Accessories Counter points Counter magnetic tips x4 Points Spikes x4
